Bumper Installation

Recommended glue E6000

“Shoe Goo” is the 2nd best recommendation, followed by “5 Minute Epoxy”. “5 Minute Epoxy” worked during testing but occasionally became unstuck unless the bond was just right because it’s so hard, “E6000” and “Shoe Goo” have more flexibility which work better with our shells.

Step 1.

Each section with magnets should be 2 magnets tall, there will be 1 magnet in the base, then a second magnet should be on top of that. The product should be received this way, but if it isn’t assemble as shown.

Step 2.

Apply a generous amount of the recommended glue to the top of two magnets on the Rear Bumper magnet. But be sure not to get any glue on the lower magnet or the bumpers themselves! Then see step 3. to add the magnet for the Rear Bumper to your body shell. After the rear bumper has been glued, repeat the same process for the Front Bumper. Apply a generous amount of glue to the single magnet of the Front Bumper’s magnet… etc..

Step 3.

Align and press into the vehicle shell as shown and center it as best as possible (note that the stickers and cuts on these body shells aren’t always perfectly centered, so center as desired). Add a paperclip to the opposite  side of the vehicle shell to keep it in place as it dries (if you don’t have a paper clip use a magnet from your fridge or anything else that's metal).

Repeat Step 2 & 3 for the Front Bumper.

Step 4.

Let the glue dry per the manufacturer's recommendations on whatever glue you used.. E6000 recommends 1-2 days. Even if you use 5-minute epoxy we recommend letting it dry overnight before you try to remove the bumpers, because these are very strong magnets.

Once the glue has dried you can add and remove or change your bumpers as desired. The image above shows a view without any bumpers and the final location of the 3 glued magnets.

If you purchased a kit that includes our spoiler can also now be easily installed without any additional work.

Or if you choose to purchase it down the road, it will work then as well.

Enjoy and have some fun!

Addressing Potential Challenges:

Should you encounter any challenges during the process, rest assured, solutions are within reach. Consider the following recommendations for a smoother experience:

  1. Optimal Adhesive Selection:

    • Insight: Our preferred choice, E6000, has consistently delivered success. If you're using a different adhesive and experiencing issues, consider switching to E6000 for optimal results.

  2. Reapplication with Care:

    • Suggestion: Give it a second try! Applying a slightly increased amount of adhesive during your second attempt might enhance the bonding process.

  3. Surface Preparation:

    • Tip: Ensure a clean canvas! Prior to gluing, confirm both the vehicle shell and magnets are free from any contaminants.

  4. Precision in Glue Application:

    • Reminder: Exercise caution when applying glue. Avoid any contact with the bumper or lower magnet, ensuring an unobstructed connection between the lower and upper magnets. Any glue between the magnets or dripping onto the Bumper will cause an issue.

  5. Optional Surface Scuffing:

    • Consideration: While generally not necessary, if you encounter challenges, lightly scuffing the vehicle shell with sandpaper before gluing is an option.

  6. Caution with Hot Glue Guns:

    • Important Note: It's crucial to highlight that using a hot glue gun may not provide sufficient strength to remove the magnets. The magnetic bond surpasses the capabilities of a hot glue gun.
